I’ve always been an active person, but my journey into running took on new significance during my teenage years when I struggled with depression. Running became a powerful tool for improving not just my physical health but also my mental well-being. Encouraged by the positive changes, I decided to give competitive running a shot while I was a student in business school. I competed in the 800m, 1500m, and 5000m events, but a knee injury from a bicycle fall shifted my path and introduced me to the world of weightlifting.
The gym became my new training ground, offering a safer and more controlled environment. Under the mentorship of two world-record-holding powerlifting coaches, I broke personal bests in bench (38kg) , deadlift (102kg), and squats (63kg), maintaining a body weight of 46kg. This experience taught me the importance of perseverance and the value of expert guidance in achieving one’s goals.
Beyond physical training, I continued to face challenges with anxiety and depression, which often trapped me in a cycle of ruminating thoughts. Meditation and Yin Yoga became my sanctuary, providing balance and mental clarity. These practices taught me the significance of mindfulness in achieving overall well-being.
Nutrition has also played a pivotal role in my fitness journey. While my running days were fueled by carbs, it was only through weightlifting and proper nutrition that I successfully lowered my body fat percentage and eliminated belly fat.
With over a decade in the fitness space, I’ve encountered and overcome many misconceptions. My mission is to share this knowledge, helping others avoid common pitfalls and fast-track their fitness journeys. I firmly believe in the power of scientific and measurable processes, applying fundamental truths about muscle building, fat loss, and behavioural science to achieve specific results.
